Before Placing the Better-Half of a Shotgun in my Mouth

I remember the moon’s swollen face
Colored cobalt blue.
I remember how the metallic light
Came in through the bedroom window,
Splashing all over your glassy skin,
While you swayed, naked, at the jaw of my bed,
Humming Pink Floyd’s “Welcome to the Machine.”
And I remember how the light caught your nipples
Standing erect, brightly smoldering in the cold,
Magnificent, like Heaven burning.
